My mom's birthday was yesterday. It's been a bit of a crazy week but we celebrated a few different times in between all the chaos and sad news. Karla's mom passed away Tuesday evening. We went to the visitation at the funeral home yesterday afternoon in Albert County. Visiting a funeral home on your mother's birthday is not ideal but it sure makes you appreciate all that you have. A friend of mine from high school who lives in the DC area was out shopping yesterday after work and was in the right place at the right time. 43 years ago today my grandmother, my mother's mother, passed away. I never knew her as I was born 5 years later. My mom gave me some old pics to take a look at. The weather we are having reminds me of when I lived in Calgary and first experienced a "Chinook". I remember at first thinking it was spelled "Schnook". How embarrassing. We went to the Wildcats game last night. Big game between Moncton and Saint John. They call it the Rivalry Cup. It was a sold out game and the place was on fire. The 50/50 draw is usually the biggest one of the year and guess what, our friends that we took with us won it. Their total prize was $11,880. Crazy. We went out to celebrate after the game - food and drinks on them. Hopefully next time

Today I found out I will be carrying the Olympic Torch when it makes its way through Moncton towards Vancouver. 5 people from work will be participating and I was the second to find out today. Have you heard of the neti-pot? Sadly, now I have. I've been quite sick for the last week and yesterday the doctor recommended. That's me. Lazy as can be. Had the day off tonight. Running around doing some errands. Only problem is school kids were off today and it was bumper to bumper throughout the city. My mom and Dick have been in Florida since the end of March and are due to return in about 3 weeks. It's their annual retreat, or escape from winter as I call it. Some sad news came earlier this week as Dick's father passed away here in Moncton. He was 94 and wasn't well. The service will be held sometime in May. The weather has been great in Florida - very, very, very hot as my mom keeps saying.
